The warm weather is fast approaching and golfers across Long Island will be pulling muscles and panting for air lifting their clubs into their car, driving for a hole in one, and walking the long distance between holes 1 and 9. It’s important to stay in shape in the off-season, and if you haven’t been diligent about it during the early winter, now’s the time to get back in the game. It’s recommended by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) that the general golf conditioning program include cardio warm-up followed by specific warm-up exercises geared towards the actual activity that will be performed (eg, Medicine Ball Swings). Warm-up should be followed by Resistance Training to reduce the risk of injury, Cardiovascular Training to reduce fatigue, and Flexibility Training to maximize swinging power, club head speed, control, and endurance.
A dedicated strength and conditioning program is a great way to succeed in taking some strokes off your game, and remaining flexible enough to go the full course. Whether off-season conditioning or in-season sport training, Titan Total Fitness is ready to create a program designed to increase your range of motion and prepare your body for more vigorous activity.
